Five Natural Remedies That You Need To Try Today

By: Andrea Yazbeck

Hallooo lovely ladies! Today I thought I’d share with you all a small but  major passion of mine. Drum roll please!! . . . . . Natural beauty and health remedies! I take a lot of pride in the fact that I spend copious amounts of time trying out homemade scrubs, masks, medicines, and other practices of the sort. Andd I am writing today to share some of my favorites with you all :) I’m going to list a few of the things that I do on a weekly basis to keep myself feeling balanced and rejuvenated.

Got a headache?!?
As a college student with a million things to do per day it’s easy to get overwhelmed and end up with a massive brain cramp. Also, unfortunately, we can’t always just take a nap to sleep it away! There’s things to do and places to be! Here are a couple of things I do to alleviate this issue:
  • Take a break: whether it be a walk, lunch, or just 20 min of your favorite TV show, let yourself relax for a short period of time
  • DRINK WATER
  • If these have both failed to lessen that headache, it’s time to pull out an amazing little secret, essential oils. Whenever I just can’t seem to shake the blur I mix a couple drops of ~peppermint~ essential oil with coconut oil and dab the mixture ( with a cotton swab or a finger no biggie) across your hairline and on your temples. This sounds strange but I’m tellin ya it works. Essential oils are magic and will be a recurring theme in this post! Be careful not to apply essential oil without a carrier oil!

Sweet Dreams
FINALLY NAP TIME. Everyone’s favorite part of the day is cuddling up in bed and getting some rest from a busy evening. To make your sleeping experience even more relaxing try making your own pillow mist. With Lavender ( and Chamomille if you wish)  essential oil, some distilled water and rubbing alcohol. Here’s a link to an exact recipe . You can also slightly soak a cotton ball with essential oil and place it in your pillow cover. Voila!

Mid-Week Pick Me Up Scrub
It’s Wednesday, you have 5 assignments, 10 papers, and 8 meetings but yet still have to make it to that mixer tomorrow night! Try an invigorating scrub to get yourself feeling refreshed and energetic to conquer ,whatever it is, you have to do to get to the end of the week. I usually combine equal parts, sugar & honey and squeeze a quarter of a lemon. Adjust ingredients as needed and scrub away the stress before an evening shower. Be sure to moisturize to keep your skin hydrated!

Get Glowing Before Your GNO

Helllooo red lipstick and high heels! It’s the perfect night to break out that new L.B.D and have some quality fun with the gals that understand you the most. Give your skin a little boost by applying fresh squeezed orange juice onto your face while you’re picking out those accessories.  Rinse with a light cleanser and then continue with your beauty regimen for the evening. You’re selfies will thank you!!

Selena Gomez Pout? Yas plz.

The last little remedy I’m going to share is going to keep your lips smooth, soft and at the perfect pout. At the beginning of the each week, I like to whip together a little scrub. Again, proportions are up to preference so feel free to add and lessen as you like:
  • 1 part sugar
  • 1 part coconut oil ( keepin it smooth and soft)
  • a few raspberries ( for the perfect pink tint)
  • a pinch of cinnamon ( this helps plump your lips!)
Mix and Mash together. Rub this scrub onto your lips and then gently remove with a drop of water and a cleansing towel. Apply some chapstick/lip moisturizer ( my personal favorite is Vaseline’s Rosy Lips Balm). Make sure to keep this remedy tucked away in the refrigerator!

Ooooo la la! <3  So there we go! These are a few of my favorite at-home remedies! But honestly, the best remedy for anything is keeping those positive thoughts flowing! :) <3

(xoxo) Much love to my fellow Spirits,
Andrea Yazbeck
