Game Day with Texas Spirits

After waiting months for the season to begin, Longhorns were anxious for Saturday to arrive, and Spirits could be seen all across the 40 Acres gearing up for the season opener versus Wyoming. Continuing a tradition which started in 2001, Spirits began the day by meeting up with the Tejas Club to set up flashcards in the south end zone of DKR. Tejas invited the girls over for lunch before heading off to the stadium to set up flashcards. It was the JIs first time to join in this tradition, and they did an awesome job! This week’s design featured the Texas flag and was a huge success.

As 7pm rolled around, Spirits were packed into their seats, decked out in casual uniform and ready to cheer their team on to victory! Despite the slow start for the Horns, the team quickly gained momentum and defeated the Wyoming Cowboys 37-17. It was exciting to see the team take the field for the first time this season, and hopefully Saturday’s win is a preview for what is to come for the rest of the season. Thankfully we only have to wait one more week to see the Horns take the field again because the next home game is Saturday, September 8th at 7pm. Be sure to check out the south endzone at the end of the second quarter to see next week’s flashcard design!
